Redacted Report

This is a great Op-Ed article about the findings of the newly released Mueller Report! It's a really good read with a bunch of solid information. I highly recommend it! But, I also want to share some important quotes:

Why did Mr. Mueller decide not to make a finding about whether President Trump obstructed justice?
.....Mr. Mueller felt his hands were tied. Longstanding Justice Department policy prohibits the indictment of a sitting president, and it isn’t fair to make accusations without giving the president a legal forum in which to respond.
A bit further on, the 448-page report says, “If we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the president clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state.”

Attorney General William Barr took it upon himself to summarize this as: there was absolutely no wrongdoing...

So what now? Although Mr. Mueller was unable to bring criminal charges against the president himself, his report lays a foundation for investigation by Congress, which has the authority and the responsibility to check the executive branch and hold the president accountable. “The conclusion that Congress may apply the obstruction laws to the president's corrupt exercise of the powers of office accords with our constitutional system of checks and balances and the principle that no person is above the law,” the report states.
It is up to Congress to decide whether the behavior described in this report meets an acceptable standard for the country’s chief executive.

I shall now go on a rant about how divided our government is: There are meant to be 3 co-equal branches of government. Unfortunately, we don't fully have that right now. We have the president and then we have the Republican majority in the Senate that will do DJT's bidding, no matter what it is to keep their party in power. The supreme Court which features a seat that was stolen by Mitch McConnell and a rapist all appointed by this President. And now we have a Justice Department that is meant to be a completely separate entity which is headed by the Attorney General who APPLIED to the job by writing an 18-page memo about how a sitting president can not be indicted. An Attorney General who took the findings of the mueller Report and summarized them in a way that blatantly discounts the work Mueller and his team did for two years and misleads (is not outright lies) about the contents of Mueller's report.

My point is... the House Judiciary committees that are investigating the sitting president, in a way that (hopefully) the American people can't deny, are currently the only majority Democrats hold in the power structure dynamic. They are the ONLY check on the balances of our government at the moment. That's not okay. We have to put pressure on our Republican Senators and House representatives to DO THEIR JOBS! Especially regarding the Mueller Report and all the crimes it has found!

Also, just for funsies...
